Collection Data: When you add coins to your personal digital collection, we collect the associated metadata you provide, including coin descriptions, purchase prices, acquisition dates, personal notes, grades, tags, and any custom categorization you apply.
Transaction Information: If you purchase a subscription or make in-app purchases, we collect transaction details processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not directly collect or store your payment card information.
Communications: When you contact us for customer support or send us feedback, we collect the content of your messages and any attachments you provide along with your contact information.

3. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Cointerest leverages advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to deliver its core identification, grading, and valuation features. Understanding how we use AI is an important part of this Privacy Policy.
Coin Recognition and Identification: When you scan or upload a photograph of a coin, our AI models employ sophisticated computer vision and deep learning algorithms to identify the coin’s country of origin, denomination, year of minting, mint mark, series, composition, and historical context. The system is trained to recognize coins from a wide range of countries, historical periods, and minting traditions.
AI-Assisted Grading: Our AI models analyze the visible condition of a coin from photographs, assessing surface preservation, luster, strike quality, wear patterns, and any damage or cleaning evidence to provide an estimated grade on standard numismatic scales (such as the Sheldon scale). These AI grades are estimates only and are not equivalent to professional third-party grading services.
Estimated Valuation: The App provides AI-generated estimated market values based on the identified coin type, its estimated grade, recent auction results, dealer price guides, historical sales data, and current market trends. These estimates are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute professional appraisals or financial advice.
Variety and Error Detection: Our AI models are trained to detect notable coin varieties, die errors, double dies, off-center strikes, repunched mint marks, and other numismatically significant anomalies that may affect a coin’s collectibility and value.
Continuous Improvement: We use aggregated and de-identified data from user interactions to train and improve our AI models, enhancing the accuracy of coin identification, grading estimates, and valuation over time. Individual images may be reviewed in anonymized form to refine our machine learning algorithms.
Cloud Processing: AI analysis requires significant computational resources and is performed on secure cloud servers. Your images are transmitted securely using industry-standard encryption protocols (TLS 1.2 or higher) and are processed in real time. Images used for scanning purposes are not permanently stored on our servers after the analysis is complete, unless you explicitly save them to your collection within the App.
Third-Party AI Services: We may utilize third-party AI and cloud computing providers to process certain analytical tasks. These providers are contractually bound to process data only in accordance with our instructions and this Privacy Policy, and are prohibited from retaining, using, or sharing your content for their own purposes.

No other user of the App can view your collection unless you explicitly choose to share specific items.
No Aggregate Disclosure: We will never publicly disclose or share aggregate collection values, composition statistics, or holdings data in any way that could identify individual users or their collections.
Anonymization for Training: Any coin images used for AI model improvement are first stripped of all user-identifying metadata, collection context, purchase prices, and personal notes before being incorporated into training datasets.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. We will also retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Specifically: account data is retained for the duration of your account plus 30 days following account deletion to allow for account recovery. Scan images that are not saved to your collection are automatically deleted from our servers within 24 hours of processing. Collection data is retained until you delete individual items, clear your collection, or terminate your account. Aggregated and anonymized data used for AI model training may be retained indefinitely, as it cannot be used to identify individual users.
8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information and collection data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher and at rest using AES-256 encryption.
Access Controls: Strict role-based access controls with audit logging for all administrative access to our systems. Employee access to production data is granted on a need-to-know basis only.
